Red Marionette Mobile, and Contest!

My lovely friend Kelli runs Red Marionette on Etsy, just about the most adorable toy and goodie shop out there!

She sent me an absolutely adorable mobile to hang in my baby’s nursery — and while she doesn’t sell mobiles yet, I hope she soon does, because it is fantastic!

Ending July 7, she has sponsored a contest over at The Rikrak Studio — you can win a $30 gift cert and “Steve the Cat – Felt Pocket Animal”!

Savor’s June Newsletter

New Arrivals!

Happy June, my friends!

I’m writing with extremely exciting news — I’ve been bursting to tell you all, I’m going to have a baby this summer! I am due at the end of July with our first, and she’s a cute and sweet little girl :) YAY!

Yes, this is why I’ve had to slow down the shop over the past months — so much to do around the house! I have been quite fortunate that I’ve been quite healthy and mobile the whole pregnancy, but I did have to cut back on my working hours. Manuel has been an awesome help but he has taken another job for the summer — and he suggested his fiancee Abby as his replacement! She’s been wrapping soap for me the past couple weeks and she’s simply wonderful. She’ll hopefully continue to help me after the baby arrives, so that I can keep the shop open as much as possible.

So — there may be a last-minute shop closure coming up soon, I will try to make sure all orders are taken care of as speedily as possible. Mike can take over shipping for me as needed.

And now for this month’s sale — I’m listing sets of baby/child-friendly gentle soaps! The sets are being sold at a wonderful discount (just $18 for five bars!). The scents are RANDOM but the listing contains more details. Check it
out here!

One last note, I’d love to have you as a facebook fan!

SAVOR APRIL NEWSLETTER

Happy April, everyone!

Beginning Saturday, April 17 and ending Sunday night, all items in my Etsy shop will be $1 off for newsletter subscribers! Just mention April Newsletter during checkout and I will refund you the discount.

For an estimate of when different scents and products will be available, please check out our calendar.

We’re currently only selling in-stock items and not taking any Made-to-Order reservations. Custom scented Body Butter and Body Mist are available when they’re listed in the shop (the Crema sells out fast!) We often have multiples of a given product though, so just ask if you’d like more than one!

Upcoming Vacation Dates!

Hi friends! Happy New Year! My neglected blog is getting an update today :)

I’ve marked some upcoming vacation dates on my Savor calendar. My friend Ronald has pretty much finished the structure of my newly redone website, I think it turned out so pretty! We tried to make sure it looks lovely on all browsers. Currently you can’t shop directly on the website but I plan to open a shop there in the future and sell directly from the site.

While Savor is on vacation, you can always shop online with these wonderful ladies — The Soapbox Co and Faery’s Muse.

If you’re a retailer interested in wholesale with Savor, I’ll eventually place a password-protected file here for you (just contact me for the password). Right now I’m handling by email at orders@savorsoap.com.

Savor November Newsletter: Savor Saver Time!

savor-saver

Black Saturday: Savor Saver

SATURDAY, November 28th, please join me at http://savor.etsy.com for a fantastic Savor Saver sale!

Beginning at 9:30 am PT and lasting until “whenever” there will be wonderful deals on sets and singles in my soap shop. Limited editions, old favorites, current stock, all manner of different goodies might be featured as a Savor Saver. They’ll all be very clearly marked!

Items will be posted approximately each hour. I have no set number of items and no set finish time.

As we did last time, I’ll start a forum thread on Etsy and link to it from my shop, so we can all chat while the sale is ongoing. For those with allergies, I will post an ingredients list before posting the special item, so that you can see if you wanna participate.

I will be listing high quantities of items. However, the items still sell out EXTREMELY fast. Often under two minutes. You must checkout quick to secure your purchase. No reservations are possible. You are welcome to buy more than one of any item, but please leave some for the other shoppers too :)

Many treats will be created ESPECIALLY for the event and might be exclusive and never offered again!

SHIPPING: Shipping has always been the toughest thing to juggle with these sales, as Etsy calculates it so strangely. So — this year, I will be invoicing for shipping **after** you are done shopping. This means that the Savor Saver items will temporarily be set to $0 in shipping cost (regular items will be set with regular rates). You should pay for your purchases when you check out, and once you are all set, just convo me and let me know. I will, of course, do flat rate shipping if that saves you money!

Because of the high volume of parcels after a Savor Saver event, please know that it will take approximately 5 days for me to ship out all orders.

Questions can be asked in the comments here! I will answer anything that I can. Updates will be posted to the blog if I need to make any announcements.

One last thing!!

YES YES YES: I’m happy to hold orders placed now until after the sale, if you wanted to save on shipping.

Black Friday/Savor Saver

What’s a Savor Saver event?

Created in October 2008 to celebrate Savor’s 1 year on Etsy, a Savor Saver is an all-day event where special items are marked down — way down, as they say! Even 50% off!

The items will be listed in a high quantity and they sell out extremely fast — I’m talking under 2 minutes in some cases. So you’ll need to be quick to pick up the amazing soaps! Many soaps will be created ESPECIALLY for the event and might be exclusive and never offered again!

I’ll be publishing all the juicy details in my November newsletter.

My question, shall I hold the event on Black Friday itself (Nov. 27) or on that Saturday, Nov. 28? Please vote!

When should I hold the Savor Saver?

  • Saturday, Nov. 28 (59.0%, 59 Votes)
  • Friday, Nov. 27 (41.0%, 41 Votes)

Total Voters: 100

October Newsletter!

I woke up today with a blinding, pounding migraine. And I had so many plans today for the shop! I was barely able to bang out my newsletter on the keyboard — of course now that I’m feeling better I see all my typos (sorry for that). The subject line defaults to “My Newsletter” — doh! And I mention September. Sigh :) The important part is the TREATS though! We all love TREATS!!

In addition to the newsletter treats I’m still in the process of listing more items, including limited editions. I’ll be doing some of that on Monday and through the rest of the week. I am happy to hold orders until you’re ready if you wanna peep the goods! I apologize for the delay because I really wanted to rock it today! But it just was not gonna happen. I took a cue from House M.D. and hooked myself up with some vicodin, so now I’m doing much better. If not a little woozy.

Happy October and Happy Halloween! Savor is celebrating the season (and our two year Etsy-Anniversary) with special treats from October 18-25.

For orders placed October 18-25, I’m including an assortment of treats: packs of sample soaps, mini creme fraiche, mini body butter, or sample body mists. One treat pack per mailing address.

What you get depends on the size of the order, bigger boxes get a bigger treat pack, but every order will get *something*!

To receive a pack, please say “Hook me up!” in the notes to seller when you check out on Etsy.

Thanks for making these two years so much fun!

(If you’ve placed an order today it’s not too late to get a pack, but orders placed before today are not eligible. Thanks for your understanding)

Savor Poll: Scrub Time!

I’ve been working on some fancy new scrubs, and I decided my new favorite material is pumice!

If you’re brave you can use it as a facial scrub, although it is pretty gritty and there’s always the risk of getting sand in your eyes, which would be completely unpleasant.

But a pumice foot scrub, man, that is heaven to me! I love it! I love it on elbows and on my back — I love to sort of polish my back with the scrub, as I think it makes my tattoo colors show more brilliantly (tattoo is fully healed, that’s the very important part). Each scrub type really has pros and cons — I love the softness I can get from a strong salt polish, but it can sting. Sugar won’t sting, but it melts away sometimes before I am done scrubbing. Oatmeal is great for the skin and gentle, so it doesn’t have a strong polishing effect. Pumice has incredible polishing ability, but isn’t suitable for all of our skin.

My favorite scrubs are probably citrus ones, although I think a ginger would work great, and herbal ones rock. I’ve always liked the Joie de Vivre jojoba scrub we sell.

My newest pumice scrub (called Footsie) is out in testing right now to approximately 20 customers — the scent is Vanilla Pinecones, and since I have it in mind for a holiday scrub it also has red and green jojoba beads in it. It’s an interesting blend and I think it’ll become a favorite!

What kinds of scrubs do you like? The poll below is arranged roughly (haha) in order of least-to-most-gritty.

Which scrub is in your tub? You can choose up to three.

September Winner!

Meet Bernadette! In a lovely harmony of fate, she’s also a seller on Etsy, and she makes lovely crocheted SOAP items! Scrubbies, cloths, etc — isn’t that the neatest coincidence? I have featured some of her items below :)

She won the Savor September contest :) If you’re interested in future promotions from Savor, be sure to sign up now!

Bernie from Laksaware

Bernie from Laksaware

Hi, my name is Bernadette. I’m originally from Malaysia and moved to North Carolina a few years ago, and created Laksaware.

Laksaware was inspired by a bowl of curry laksa while we were in Malaysia.

While the husband was busy devouring his bowl of laksa and getting dots of curry splashed on his white shirt, we came up with the idea of having a “Laksa T-Shirt”. Hence, the name Laksaware. But we haven’t ventured into selling our own T-shirts on Etsy yet because I’ve been addicted to making scrubbies and turning my craftroom into scrubbieville. I got tired of my stinky boring kitchen sponges and wanted to bring some color and fun and eco-friendliness into the kitchen. Two years later, I started selling them on Etsy..and loving it!

Etsy is such a wonderful community of talented artsy folks. Through Etsy, I discovered handmade soaps and became an addict. When Savor told me I had won a $100 shopping spree to her fantastic shop, I literally fell off my chair and was doing the happy dance all day! Thank YOU Savor!
